“Do no harm” – The Oath
Being a doctor, practicing medicine, I thought fulfillment of such a sum of duty would be easy.
Yet, despite best intentions and personal efforts, it has not been.
These days, news is inundated with broken healthcare systems, doctor burnout, corporate privatization, dwindling professional fulfillment, failing insurance systems, and, most importantly, people's lost faith in their care. The fight seems insurmountable, especially alone.
At a macro level, there is a futile feud between Insurance companies – Hospitals – Drug companies – Government policies, and Doctors.
At a micro level, patient care is fragmented, inefficient, and apathetic, often lacking the very essence of medicine—compassion and humanism.
Patients feel helpless and betrayed by the medical system filled with bureaucracy, greed, and hubris.
I have been resentful, remorseful, and pointed fingers.
“I wanted to do better. I know I can do better.”
Because to be indifferent, people will suffer, and the consequences are very real.
In the end, every sector of medicine, including me, is accountable.
The founding of American Endocrine is about the much-needed prioritization and focus in addressing the need for modern-day medicine;
Creating value and social platforms that perhaps other healthcare entities (academic, community, or corporate hospitals) can’t, through specialization, utmost ethics, streamlined practice models, and unique service lines.
